Welcome to Talking-Torah.com

I'm a Rabbi, so you might think that Talking Torah comes naturally.  After all, isn't that what I do from the pulpit or at weddings and other occasions.

Of course I do! And it's my job and it's what people expect.

It's also important to share Divrei Torah at mealtimes.  We're told that when two people eat together that if no words of Torah are shared, then it is like a gathering of scorners.  Three, and it's like an offering to idolaters. (Pirkei Avot 2:3&4)

So often we have Divrei Torah at mealtimes - and our schools send our children home with ideas to read out - which is great.

In the Shema, (Devarim 6:7) we are told to teach the Torah to our children and to talk torah when we sit at home and when we walk by the way... and more.

This site is about encouraging those conversations.  Every week I'll sugest a couple of topics which come from the Parasha.  Choose one or all of them and discuss it with your children or your parents, your friends of colleagues - as an idea from teh Torah that has a place today.

What I'm planning to do over the next few months is to add to this blog excerpts of some of the chats I'm having and that I've got other people to have.  I'm looking for 90 seconds of conversation that you can record on your phone and upload (eg via a Dropbox link) on the Upload Page.

Let's get Talking-Torah!
